Artist Statement
An artist's craft is to take risks: to surrender to the unfolding of the material and approach a knowledge that arrives across multiple times—past, present and future. Each pixel-art mosaic is handmade, using a language of craft and technology to explore the emotions, intuitions and mental journeys of a human system governed by a digital world. I attach colored metal studs to a wooden base, folding them beforehand to make assembly easier. Each stud acts as a unit of color that combines with the others to form spirals, bodies, lines, circles and the other shapes that make up the finished piece.
Tacy Borg is the artist name created for this project. It joins two essential parts of its message: “Ta”, a syllable from Natalia (the human, imperfect, traumatized), and “cy borg”, meaning cybernetic organism (the sophisticated, divine, transhuman). Ultimately, this entire body of work is the expression of an organism adapting to an environment conceived at a higher level.

Cxacxa
“Cxacxa” pays tribute to Nasa Yuwe, the language of the Nasa people, also known as the Páez, who live in Colombia's Cauca department, especially the Tierradentro region. Cxacxa is a word with a deeply symbolic meaning: strength.
This experimental mosaic is made with metal studs bought in central Bogotá. A symbol of resistance, the stud has been embraced since the 1970s by urban subcultures seeking to reclaim industrial materials. I use it to create pixel-art figures inspired by the Nasa worldview. Red and green represent the blood of their ancestors and the natural world of their territory. Silver, by contrast, symbolizes technology, creating a dialogue between ancestral memory and the contemporary world.
Today, 65 Indigenous languages are spoken in Colombia and approximately 800 throughout the Americas. By creating “Cxacxa” in Nasa Yuwe, I seek to celebrate the strength of Nasa culture and the Indigenous presence within the worldview of contemporary art.
